THE CAPTIVE HEART
Somewhere down the road that wanders in and out of town
Nestled in a hillside peace and love abounds
Inside a little country church we’d passed a hundred times
But never really stopped to hear the church bells chime
On such a lovely April morning life begins again
In every budding branch and every flower kissed with rain
And like the perfect sunrise that you can’t describe
Two hearts have touched for one brief passing point in time
There’s a story being written right before our very eyes
And we are living in the pages of the truth and lies
So often we will pay a heavy price for our mistakes
One that I will gladly pay whatever it will take
you hold the key to my captive heart
Do you ever have the chance to dream the perfect dream
Where the feelings burning in your heart are well within your means
If you awake your only thought is falling back to sleep
And picking up where you left off to grab what you can keep
CHORUS
I’m struggling to hold on to every minute that we have
Because you hold my captive heart and I’m a willing slave
I never knew that life with you could reign so high above
So toss the key I’m willingly a prisoner of love
There’s a story being written right before our very eyes
And we are living in the pages of the truth and lies
So often we will pay a heavy price for our mistakes
One that I will gladly pay whatever it will take
Our story is unfolding if you read between the lines
We are just two travelers moving in and out of time
So often we will pay the price when we cannot let go
This love affair may never end as long as we both know
you hold the key to my captive heart
